Liliana Partida has been in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years. She began her career early in life with a focus in fitness and sports, and in the track and field category, won the 400 meter run California State Championship in 1978. These formative years contributed to her future academic and professional pursuits in the healthy lifestyle and fitness industries.
After graduating with a major in physical education and a minor in psychology at Yuba College, she developed and co-owned one of the most successful all women’s health clubs in San Rafael, California followed with a similar project in Los Angeles before pursuing international opportunities in fitness and health club developments. As Staff Nutritionist at Center For New Medicine, she presents on-going educational programs on Nutrition, Metabolic Syndrome, Weight Loss, Diabetes and Cancer.

[00:01] REENA JADHAV: Hey everyone it’s Reena Jadhav with the health bootcamp and the live longer podcast and we have got today Liliana Partida who’s going to talk about the very hot, very new and cool weight loss bootcamp that we’re about to launch. Hi, Liliana welcome.
[00:14] LILIANA PARTIDA: Hi Reena.
[00:16] REENA JADHAV: Alright so you are going to tell us why do diets fail and why this amazing weight loss bootcamp that you’re launching is going to be different. So let’s start with the why do diets fail?
[00:27] LILIANA PARTIDA: Well Reena you know 80% of diets fail really after one year and I think that the biggest reason that I see with my patients is that they’re expecting too much, too quick, too soon. So they lose interest before they actually achieve what we would consider a lifestyle change. That means to become the change that they have been seeking now also two people think the calories in calories out so they do a very low carbohydrate diet there for sure done if by math’s they are going to lose that weight. What they don’t understand that a lot of foods that they may be consuming are caught in them allergenic reaction that’s causing them inflammation which is holding on to their weight and water retention. Lots of people have intervened disorders whether it’s their fibroid or their green holes or their hormones they can definitely impact their ability to lose weight as well. So there’s a lot of factors is not about calories in calories out we know that there’s a big difference between what we would consider low sugar foods, high sugar foods, foods that are what we would consider frank and fats in hydrogenated and chemicals those all play a huge role and we have so many diet programs are with fake foods. A lot of splendor and aspartic and you know sugar-free and really what did they do they destroy your brain. That they’re looking for a calorie but they’re not getting one so they keep you hungry all the time so that you can continue to buy these foods. So there is so much mixed information out on the media low carb, high carb, ketogenic, vegan. The people are just really confused and so one of the goals is to teach you how to create a chemistry that you really understand your body as being a very unique body so that we can really achieve the goals based upon where you’re at, where you want to go for a lifetime.
[02:24] REENA JADHAV: I love it. You already mentioned when we were chatting that there’s also a difference between not just the foods but also the stress and the workout and the program that you’re putting together is sort of a 365 degrees view of all the different things that need to be done. Talk a little bit about one of the other aspects that will be incorporated into this bootcamp.
[02:46] LILIANA PARTIDA: Okay so one of the things that this two-week camp so I’m really going to condense so much material in a very short period of time. So what I really want is a lot of participation from everyone and so I’ll be able to help my clientele out there if they’re able to give me some feedback. So really I’m really looking for really a lot of teams cooperation so I can be able to we’ll do our coaching calls be very specific about some of the challenges that we might have. Now one of the things is that we are not going to really be so much about caloric restriction protocol as we’re going to be a sugar restriction, so I’m going to say we’re going to go into sugar rehab. Nobody likes to hear that because immediately start thinking of all of their little foods flying out of the window but honestly there is so many foods that can fit into what we would consider foods that aren’t going to be offensive and causes weight gain. So I really want to put it out there that you don’t have to give up the flavor, you don’t have to give up your favorite food but what we’re going to do is turn them into foods that look the same but don’t have the same impact as far as the glucose. So it’s going to be a very moderate protein going to be a low to moderate carbohydrate and a little bit higher in the fat because fats are very officiating to the brain. People get protein and fat, in fact, they get efficient brain very quickly unlike when we eat carbohydrates and we end up eating way too much before we even begin to feel full.
[04:19] REENA JADHAV: Absolutely, you know that sounds great and of course you’re going to have elements of stress management including curated meditations, mindful mass, some yoga, some exercises. So for everyone out there, this is a program that’s going to help you get started on a journey that allows you to maintain the new lower weight not just lose it temporarily for some upcoming events.
